This week, we’re honored to shine a spotlight on our friends at Almost There Rescue (ATR).
Almost There Rescue has a unique and incredibly important mission: providing specialized care for pregnant mama dogs, nursing moms, and puppies. From the moment they arrive, every family receives the individualized care they need to heal, grow, and prepare for adoption. Their Puppy Preschool curriculum helps puppies build confidence and social skills, while mama dogs receive personalized, force-free training to help them transition successfully into their next chapter.
Their impact reaches beyond the walls of their shelter through education, advocacy, and programs that help support dogs and the people who care for them throughout Arizona.
Recently, Almost There Rescue experienced an unexpected emergency when an electrical malfunction caused one of their water heaters to begin smoking. Thanks to the quick actions of their team and the rapid response from the fire department, everyone was safely evacuated. Out of an abundance of caution, every dog in their care was temporarily relocated while repairs are completed.
When they needed a safe place for those dogs, Heidi’s Village was proud to open our doors.
Moments like these are a reminder of what makes Arizona’s animal welfare community so special. When one organization faces an unexpected challenge, others step in to help. That’s exactly what partnership looks like, and it’s one of the many reasons Heidi’s Village exists—to serve as a resource for our rescue partners whenever we’re needed.
We’re grateful for everything Almost There Rescue does for Arizona’s mama dogs and puppies, and we’re honored to support them while they get back on their feet. If you aren’t already following their work, we encourage you to learn more about their mission and the lifesaving difference they make every day.
