From the very beginning, Heidi’s Village was created to be a resource for Arizona’s animal welfare community. Every program we’ve built has been centered around one goal: helping more animals find their way home.
That mission isn’t changing. It’s growing.
Our partnerships with rescue organizations will always remain at the heart of what we do. This new initiative is simply an expansion of that work—another way we can step in where there’s a need and help even more dogs.
Over the past several years, we’ve seen the same challenge again and again—wonderful dogs spending weeks, and sometimes months, waiting in the shelter simply because they need a little extra support, medical care, or exposure.
We have the space. And we believe we have the opportunity to help.
That’s why we’re excited to launch a new pilot adoption program at Heidi’s Village.
Beginning this month, we’ll be welcoming a limited number of dogs from Maricopa County Animal Care & Control as official Village Dogs. Our focus will be on long-stay dogs—those who have been at the shelter for 30+ days and could benefit from a change in venue, additional visibility, enrichment, and individualized care while they search for families.
We’re incredibly grateful to McS Charitable Foundation and Two Pups Wellness Fund Project Get Out for their support in helping make this pilot program possible.
As with everything we do, this program is designed to complement and strengthen the work already happening throughout our rescue community—not replace it. We’ll intentionally keep the program small, caring for around 10 adoptable dogs at a time, so we can learn, grow, and continue providing the highest level of care while supporting the organizations that rely on Heidi’s Village every day.
Our first Village Dogs are expected to make their adoptable debut on July 20, and we can’t wait to introduce them to you.
Keep an eye on your inbox and our social media channels over the coming weeks—you’ll meet some incredible dogs who are more than ready for their second chance.
Thank you to our donors, volunteers, rescue partners, and supporters for believing in our mission and making opportunities like this possible.
Now, let’s help these Village Dogs find the families they’ve been waiting for.
